This is a group animation project I created for my graduation at Yuan Ze University.
In this project, I was responsible for some keyframes, in-between, and background art .
This was our first time creating a 2D animation, so it involved a lot of problem solving.
At first, we planned to make the animation as a music video, which meant we had to tell the story within a limited amount of time, with shorter clips and a quicker pace. Although we later decided with our teacher to turn it into a short film instead, the fast-paced storyboard remained. Within the limited runtime, I tried to make each movement as clear and expressive as possible to help the audience follow the story more easily.
Midway through production, we realized we didn’t have enough time to fully animate every clip. So we decided to focus our efforts on the key scenes that required smoother, more detailed animation. For the other segments where we couldn’t complete full animations, our keyframe animator designed them in a way where the composition alone would clearly convey the context and emotion of the scene.
I built a scene in Blender and rendered the backgrounds based on our needs.
In post-production, I used Photoshop to paint over them to reduce the 3D feeling.
